John Hopkins is a native born Mississippian hailing from Waynesboro Ms.  John is currently in pursuit of a Bachelors of Music Education at The University of Southern Mississippi.   While John is a multi-instrumentalist, his specialty is the tenor trombone.  During high school, John performed in numerous regional honor bands and clinics and was a soloist and section leader in his high school’s marching band.  In college, he served for two years as the section leader for the Pride of Mississippi trombone section with which he led weekly rehearsals and even arranged tunes for performances.  He has also been a four season consecutive holder of the principal chair position in the Symphonic Winds ensemble as well as a member of multiple trombone quartets as well as a recurring member of the USM select Trombone Octet!  Additionally, John is a proud member of the Eta Phi chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia fraternity at USM with which he has served as the historian and the treasurer.  Outside of USM, John has also been a technician for multiple local band camps, attended the national Midwest Band/Orchestra clinic in Chicago, and regularly plays bass and acoustic guitar at his church.  John has a heart of service, a passion for music, and wants nothing more than to help aspiring musicians follow their dreams through music!
